The short version
- Seraph is for parents and legal guardians. You install it on your own child's phone, and your child always sees that it is on.
- It costs $19.99 a month per phone, billed by Apple or Google. There is no free trial. Cancel any time in the store.
- Seraph can miss things and can be wrong. It helps you. It doesn't replace you. It is not an emergency service.
- Other people's messages are read on your child's phone. You are responsible for following the laws where you live.
- Never use Seraph on another adult, or on a child who is not yours. Never send us screenshots or pictures.
- Our liability is limited to what you paid for Seraph in the last 12 months. Ontario law applies.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Seraph is made by Sanvito Technologies Inc., 21 King St W, Hamilton ON L8P 4W7, Canada ("we", "us"). You can reach us at [email protected].
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and us. They cover the Seraph app for iPhone and Android and the website at seraph.kids. They also serve as the end-user licence agreement for the app stores. By installing or using Seraph, or by using this website, you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Seraph.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information Seraph handles. It is part of these terms.
2. Who may use Seraph
You may use Seraph only if all of these are true:
- You are 18 or older.
- You are the parent or legal guardian of the child.
- The child is under 18.
- The phone is your child's phone, and you are entitled to manage it.
Seraph is only for your own minor child. Never install it on the phone of another adult, including a partner, a spouse, an employee or a friend. Never install it on a child who is not in your care. If your child turns 18, stop using Seraph on their phone and remove it.
During setup you confirm: "I'm this child's parent or guardian. They'll see that Seraph is on." That confirmation is a promise to us, and we rely on it.
By completing setup and subscribing, you also consent, as the child's parent or legal guardian, to Seraph handling information as described in our Privacy Policy.
3. What Seraph does and does not do
Seraph runs on your child's phone and watches the screen for signs of harm: nudity, graphic violence, unsafe chats, bullying, a photo being sent to a stranger, risky accounts, an unknown person asking questions, and signs that your child may be hurting. Serious things pause the phone with a calm screen. Other concerns email you. You unlock with your parent PIN on the child's phone and see a short report of why.
Seraph can miss things and can be wrong. It helps you. It doesn't replace you. It is not a substitute for your attention and supervision. Detection quality varies. It works better on clear images than on small thumbnails or game chat, and a person who moves slowly and carefully may not be flagged. Ordinary insults between friends may show up as alerts.
Seraph is not an emergency service. If your child is in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Seraph is available in the United States at launch. The help lines shown in the app (988, text HOME to 741741, 911) are US services.
Your child always sees that Seraph is on. Android shows a persistent "Seraph is on" notification while it is watching. iPhone shows the system screen-recording indicator. There is no hidden mode and no way to hide the app icon.
4. Your responsibilities
- Tell your child. Explain that Seraph is on their phone and what it does. For teenagers, talk it through with them.
- Act in your child's best interest. Use Seraph in good faith, for your child's safety.
- Follow the law where you live. Seraph reads messages from other people on your child's phone. Those people have not agreed to this. Some places, including some US states, require every party's consent before messages are captured or read by a third party. You are responsible for knowing and following the laws that apply to you.
- Keep your PIN private. The PIN never leaves the phone and we cannot reset it. If you forget it, you will need to reinstall Seraph on your child's phone and set it up again. Your plan is not lost: tap "Restore purchases" during setup to bring it back.
- Never misuse Seraph. Do not use it to harass, stalk, threaten or control another person.
5. Plan and payment
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Price | $19.99 a month per phone (US dollars; the store shows your local price) |
| Free trial | None. You pay when you subscribe. |
| Billed by | Apple App Store or Google Play, to your store account |
| Renewal | Renews every month until you cancel |
| Coverage | One plan covers one phone. A second child's phone needs its own plan. |
| Refunds | Handled by Apple or Google under their policies |
Seraph needs an active plan. Setup cannot finish without one, and email alerts are only sent while your plan is active.
To cancel on iPhone: Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On Android: open Google Play, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Seraph until the end of the period you already paid for.
We never see your card number. Payment is handled entirely by the store. Because we cannot issue refunds, please ask the store.
The stores allow one active plan per Apple ID or Google account, so each child's phone should use the child's own account (on iPhone, Screen Time needs the child's own Apple Account in Family Sharing anyway). A plan is only ever active on one phone. If two phones share one account: on iPhone, buying on the second phone moves the plan to it and the first phone is no longer covered; on Android, the store refuses the second purchase and the app asks you to sign in with the child's own account (tapping "Restore purchases" there would move the plan to that phone instead, and the first phone would lose it). If you reinstall the app, "Restore purchases" in the app brings your plan back.
If we change the price, the new price applies only from a later renewal, after you have been told, and you can cancel before you are charged it.
6. Your account and deleting it
Each phone running Seraph is its own account. There is no shared parent account across phones.
You can delete the account at any time in the app: Parent area, then Settings, then Plan, then Delete account. This erases that phone's account data on our server: its record in the account, its cached subscription status and its usage counters. Some things stay: the phone's registration (its device key, attestation record and anonymous account id), so the same phone can subscribe again; anonymous daily usage counts (numbers only, no identifiers) until they leave a 31-day window; and the subscription record held by our subscription service, RevenueCat. It is a financial record, so it can only be erased once your store subscription has ended. To erase it, keep Seraph on the phone until then, open the Parent area and tap Delete account again. Deleting the account does not erase what Seraph keeps on the phone; see our Privacy Policy, section 13.
Deleting the account does not cancel your subscription. Only you can cancel it, in the store, using the steps in section 5. The app reminds you of this when you delete.
7. Your licence to use Seraph
We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to install and use Seraph on your child's phone, for as long as you have an active plan and follow these terms. You may not:
- copy, resell, rent or lend the app;
- reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract its source code or its detection models;
- work around any limit or protection in the app or our server;
- use the app for anything other than protecting your own minor child.
Seraph, its name, logo and software belong to us. These terms do not give you any ownership.
8. Content you may see
When you review a report on your child's phone, it may include upsetting material, such as a picture of graphic violence or quoted lines from a hurtful chat. Pictures are hidden until you tap to view. Frames that may show nudity, or a photo being sent, are never saved, not even blurred.
Never send screenshots, pictures or chat content to us. Our support team never asks for them and does not open them. If you need help, describe the problem in words at [email protected].
We have the right, but not the duty, to report unlawful content or activity to the authorities.
9. What Seraph cannot do on each phone
iPhone
- Seraph only watches while screen capture is running. Your child can stop it. When that happens, most of their other apps stay shielded until capture is started again, so stopping capture is not a way around Seraph. Seraph emails you if Screen Time permission for Seraph is removed.
- Capture stops when the screen locks, on an incoming call or after a restart. Your child restarts it at the next unlock.
- The pause does not cover the Phone app, Screen Time "Always Allowed" apps, the Home Screen, Settings or Control Center.
Android
- Your child could switch the accessibility service off in Settings, or restart the phone in Safe Mode. Seraph emails you when it finds that protection was switched off; after Safe Mode or a force-stop, that email may not arrive until Seraph is next opened on the phone.
- Device admin makes removal harder, not impossible.
Every phone
- Emergency calls always work, even while the phone is paused.
- Not covered: voice chat, protected video, secure screens such as banking apps, anything while iPhone capture is off, and a phone after a factory reset.
10. Changes, suspension and ending the service
We may change or improve Seraph over time, and we may stop offering it. We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when. If a change matters to you, we will post it on seraph.kids before it takes effect. Using Seraph after that date means you accept the updated terms.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, for example by using Seraph on someone who is not your minor child. You may stop at any time by cancelling in the store and deleting the account.
11. Disclaimers
Seraph is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that any particular content will be detected, paused or blocked. We do not guarantee that reports or alerts are accurate, complete or on time. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims related to Seraph is limited to the amount you paid for your Seraph subscription in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for harm that Seraph did not detect or prevent.
Some places do not allow some of these limits. Where that is the case, our liability is limited to the smallest extent the law allows, and nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
13. Your responsibility for misuse
If you use Seraph in breach of these terms, and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees. This includes using Seraph on a person who is not your own minor child, and breaking the consent laws where you live.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes will be heard in the courts of Ontario, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts.
15. Apple and Google
These terms are between you and us, not with Apple or Google. We alone are responsible for Seraph, for supporting it (see our Support page), for any claim about it (including product liability, legal or regulatory claims and consumer-protection claims), and for any claim that it infringes someone else's intellectual property.
Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide maintenance or support for Seraph. You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Seraph, for example your wireless data service agreement.
If Seraph fails to meet a warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for it; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Google Play refunds follow Google's own policies.
Your licence to the iPhone app is limited to Apple devices you own or control and to the usage rules in Apple's Media Services terms. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US government embargo or listed as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
The store's own terms also apply to your purchase, including its rules on payment, renewal and refunds.
16. General
- Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Seraph.
- Severability. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them if our company is sold or merged, and we will post a notice on seraph.kids if that happens.
- Contact. Questions about these terms: [email protected], or see our Support page.
